Day #6 Morning Report

Buenos Aires 2018 YOG

The sixth day of racing at the Youth Olympic Games at Club Nautico San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina will see the competition’s first two sailing medal races.

Girl’s and Boy’s Windsurfing (Techno 293+) have completed 11 races so far, so will proceed to the single-point, non-discardable medal race at 12:00.

Only one athlete is guaranteed a medal ahead of this afternoon’s race. Greek windsurfer Alexandros Kalpogiannakis cannot finish any lower than second in the Boy’s fleet, and will battle it out for gold with Nicolo Renna (ITA). The leader of the Girl’s fleet, Giorgia Speciale (ITA) is 17 points ahead of Manon Pianazza (FRA) in second.

Elsewhere, Girl’s and Boy’s Kiteboarding and the Mixed Nacra 15 fleet continue their series racing.

Three races are scheduled for the Nacra 15s to complete their series ahead of tomorrow’s medal race, while Girl’s and Boy’s Kiteboarding will attempt to race as many finals as possible.

Conditions are expected to be similar to yesterday, with temperatures at around 14°C once more, and winds rising over the course of the day. This morning has seen speeds between 6-7 knots, which will climb to 10 at noon and continue to rise to around 12-13 by 16:00 in a south easterly direction.

The current will remain downstream throughout the duration of all races, at a speed of less than 1 knot.

Mixed Multihull: 12:00 Warning (Area B)

Girl’s Windsurfer: 12:40 Warning (Area A)
