Buenos Aires 2018 YOG

Only two classes will be competing on the fifth day of racing at the Youth Olympic Games at Club Nautico San Isidro, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After successfully completing nine races, the Mixed Nacra 15 fleet have a reserve day, with no races scheduled.

Girl’s and Boy’s Windsurfing (Techno 293+) and Girl’s and Boy’s Kiteboarding will continue to race.

The Kiteboarders will complete two elimination races and return to shore to rest, before racing twice more.

Girl’s and Boy’s Windsurfing will start with fleet racing. Should conditions allow, the plan is to then complete the slalom elimination race which was started but abandoned on Day Three, before racing another slalom.

This will be followed by another slalom race and then two fleet races.

At 14°C, it’s the coldest day of the competition so far, but the wind is looking good, with 10-15 knots expected over the course of the day in an east to north easterly direction. More winds are due tonight, resulting in rising wind levels towards the later part of the day.

The water levels are higher today following some rainfall and a strong south easterly wind during the night. As the tide goes out, the excess water will also return to normal levels, meaning the current will be higher.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

Boy’s Windsurfer: 12:00 Warning (Area A)
Three races scheduled

Boy’s Kiteboard: 12:00 Warning (Area D)
Four races scheduled

Girl’s Windsurfer: 12:10 Warning (Area A)
Three races scheduled

Girl’s Kiteboard: 12:12 Warning (Area D)
Four races scheduled

Mixed Multihull: Reserve (No Racing)
